Our client is seeking to recruit a Electrical Submersible Pump Site Witness.
Location: Basra Iraq
Work Schedule: Rotation
Duration: 12 Months

Job Description:

You will need a good knowledge of Running and design ESP, SRP, Gas lift PCP pumps, oil, gas well drilling, workover, stimulation, fracturing and stimulations and all equipment associated with

The ESP (Electrical Submersible Pump) Witness shall Report to the ESP Team Leader. The ESP Witness shall be the lead company representative at location and will be involved in all aspects of the operaton.

The ESP Witness shall maintain close working relationship with all contractors at the well site which will include, but not be limited to


Workover rig contractor,
Drilling fluids contractor
ESP service provider
Generator service supplier
Variable Speed Drive (VSD) and Variable Frequency Drive VFD) Supplier,
Fishing Services Contractor
Inspection Companies
Wellhead Company
Operations and Maintenance ROO


The role will involve:
The ESP Witness shall be the COMPANY advocate at the wellsite for safety and operational optimization. The key activities of the witness during operations shall be as follows:

Lead by example with a strong commitment to HSSE.
Participate in rig pre-move and move planning with Contractor
Participate in rig commissioning process and any rig / HSE audits conducted,
Observe that all well operations are in compliance with the approved program,
Observe that all operations are in compliance with the Site Safety Management System and immediately advise
Contractor and Company supervisor of any violations or potentially dangerous situations. Review STOP cards submitted at site with Contractor,
Observe / verify if required materials and equipment specifications are in compliance
Discuss / review upcoming operations with Contractor site representative at the beginning of each tour. This will include any specific activity where a permit to work was issued by Contractor.
Review equipment, materials and personnel requirements for upcoming jobs(2 week minimum look-ahead) with Contractor representative to ensure there will be no delays to job
Report to Company and record any operational problems and/or changes in drilling program,
Stop operations at any time if safety of people, equipment, wellbore or environment is at danger, resolve issues with Contractor representative and agree to proceed
Offer recommendations for rig move, logistical, and operational improvement plus any optimization opportunities


Job Requirements:

Educated to Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Good communication skills,
Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the oil industry
Strong team player and ability in a similar leadership role.
Experience of managing third party contractors
Aptitude to innovate and be open to new ideas.
IWCF Well Control certified or equivalent.
Flexible approach to work

Basra based, Rotational schedule

Travel required

Yes - up to 5%, this will primarily be for training opportunities, but may include contractor meetings in the region if required..


There will be requirements to travel to Basra, Iraq approximately 10 to 14 days every two months. Additionally, travel for supplier meetings or audits in China, Dubai, Kuwait and Amman may be required
