Our client is seeking to recruit Senior Drilling Supervisors.
Location: Libya
Work Schedule: Contract 28/28 Rotation
Duration: 2+ Years

Job Description:

To direct field drilling operations on-site to accomplish specified drilling objectives within time and cost objectives. To Maintain a 24/7 degree of communication with Drilling Superintendent.

Making on-site personnel aware of regulatory requirements that affect them and of the action they must take in order to comply. Follow-up to ensure that compliance occurs.

Ensuring that all oil spills and other cases of noncompliance are documented and reporting them immediately to the Drilling Superintendent (and regulatory agencies if required).

Authorizing or requiring drills and training exercises as needed to ensure personnel are knowledgeable and able to comply with requirements.

When cases of non-compliance occur, taking immediate action to correct the situation. Reporting directly to the Drilling Superintendent.

Ensure that at all times the safety of personnel receives top priority and that no operation is undertaken unless normally accepted safety standards can be met, by:

Attending and participating in contractor safety meetings.

Continually watching for safety hazards and seeing that they are immediately corrected.

Performing a thorough on-site safety inspection in conjunction with other Sr. Oxy supervisors and selected contractor supervisors at least once a month.

Ensuring that all accidents are thoroughly documented and analyzed and that corrective measures to prevent recurrence are implemented.

Meeting regularly with key on-site personnel to discuss operational status, plans progress, and action required from each person.

Ensure that clearly written, accurate, and complete morning reports are made.

Preparing the morning report prior for the Drill Site Manager

Keeping the Drilling Superintendent advised of potentially hazardous or catastrophic situations. Also, notifying the Drilling Superintendent immediately any time that a significant problem or change in plans occurs.

Consulting with the Drilling Superintendent & Engineer frequently to discuss status plans and to obtain technical input.

Ensuring that a complete set of records is maintained for the well.
Thoroughly reviewing current situation and plans with relief of change-out day.

Keeping records and correspondence organized and filed so that relief personnel can readily find necessary information.

Ensure that all on-site personnel, equipment, and materials used in drilling and support operations are carrying out the plans defined by the Drilling Program and Procedures, at the most profitable cost, by:

Defining responsibilities of each contractor on location.

Giving clear, complete, and concise directions to all personnel and ensuring that each person is capable of doing what is asked of him.

Following up on requests made to make sure that things get done correctly and on time.


The role will involve:

Acknowledging good performance and reviewing unacceptable performance at the time it occurs, reporting Directly to Drilling Superintendent.

Monitoring compliance with work requirements by making periodic inspections using checklists.

Training contract personnel on well control practices, safety, oil spill prevention and cleanup, and other special requirements.

Learning and applying sound supervisory and management practices.

Training and contract personnel to the highest level possible.

Ensure that the step-by-step drilling operational procedures used result in the accomplishment of the specified work within the predetermined time and cost objectives, by:

Obtaining from the Drilling Engineer & Superintendent the Programs, Procedures, materials lists, and other information early enough to allow efficient and orderly planning and execution of the operation.

Thoroughly executing all on-site plans to ensure that they are consistent with Drilling Program, supplementary procedures and direction from the Drilling Superintendent

Discussing procedures and plans with the appropriate on site personnel to ensure that all available knowledge is used advantageously.

Reviewing each procedure step-by-step to determine exactly what action will have to be taken, what materials are required, and how the equipment will fit together.

Having complete knowledge of the contents of the Drilling Program and all supplementary procedures and effectively implementing them.

Being knowledgeable of all phases of drilling and testing operations from rig-up to rig-down, and ensuring that this knowledge is made full advantage of.
Being familiar with and applying the contents of all the material manuals and API publications.

Learning and applying the latest and best operations practices.

Basing decisions of first-hand examinations and observations and actual measurements made on-site rather than using drawings for reference or speculating.


Job Requirements:

Extensive oil field drilling experience
High school Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Engineering discipline.
