Technology Review: Reviewing new technology applications for the continued field development for the Audrey gas field. Responsible for identifying all relevant technologies including CTD/TTRD/UBD/Multilateral wells and field optimisation programmes including costs and risk and reward, increase production and total recovery |
Shell Expro N. Sea |
Sub-sea Abandonment: Shell Expro asked Frontier to assist with a review and update of their Sub-sea Abandonment strategy, technologies and procedures for all of their North Sea Sub-sea developments. |
Petroleum Development Oman |
Well Integrity: Development of high level strategy with PDO with regard to technologies and procedures to ensure the ongoing integrity of some 450 wells in mature fields in Oman. The proposed scope of work covered well engineering, reservoir engineering, production chemistry, production technology, corrosion engineering, geology, data management and software tool development. |
Vermillion Energy, France |
Underbalanced Coiled Tubing Drilling: This project included planning, engineering, HSE, personnel training and onsite supervision of UBD CT drilling campaign in the Paris Basin. This was the first time that UBD had been completed in France and the whole project was planned and implemented in 10 weeks. |
Wintershall AG, Germany |
UBD Candidate Selection: Frontier assisted Wintershall in a screening exercise aimed at UBD reservoir candidate selection across Wintershall’s international asset portfolio. This exercise included estimation of reservoir benefits and cost/benefit analysis to rank candidate reservoirs. |
Robert Gordon University |
Petroleum & Well Engineering Training: Frontier developed and presented a number of modules to Robert Gordon University students in Aberdeen undertaking an MSc in advanced well engineering. These modules included underbalanced drilling, through tubing rotary drilling, coiled tubing drilling, horizontal drilling and deepwater operations. Frontier can also provide training courses to industry clients covering the same topics. |
Transco, UK |
Pipeline Design & Cartography: BFO pipeline, design draughting services for the St. Fergus to Aberdeen BFO pipeline project. |
Shell UBD Global Implementation Team |
UBD Implementation: Frontier provided UBD engineering, project management & HSE services to Shell operating companies around the world from early 2000 onwards. This included projects with Shell Expro SNS, NAM Holland, AFPC Syria and PDO in Oman. The biggest of these projects was the simultaneous implementation of two UBD projects for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) where Frontier managed the whole implementation project from feasibility, candidate selection through engineering, tendering, onsite supervision and training of PDO personnel. |
Shell Expro GSG Southern North Sea |
Offshore UBD Implementation: The two current Directors of Frontier – Paul Radcliffe and Mark Clarke were members of the Shell UBD team which successfully implemented underbalanced drilling offshore in the Southern North Sea. |
Petroleum Development Oman |
Nimr Project: Nimr is a sandstone reservoir with high viscosity oil. More than twenty underbalanced wells were drilled to improve well productivity and reservoir characterisation. These were jointed pipe single lateral horizontal wells drilled underbalanced with crude oil and nitrogen as the drilling fluid. |
Petroleum Development Oman |
Saih Rawl: Saih Rawl is a carbonate oil reservoir. Several wells were drilled with the aim of improving well productivity. These were jointed pipe 5 leg multilateral horizontal wells drilled underbalanced with crude oil and natural gas as the drilling fluid. Frontier provided the following services: |
Al Furat Petroleum Company Syria |
Omar Project: Omar is an oil bearing sandstone reservoir. Four underbalanced wells drilled to eliminate drilling problems (losses & differential sticking). Jointed pipe single lateral horizontal wells drilled underbalanced with water based drilling fluid and nitrogen |
NAM Holland |
Coevorden Project: A campaign of wells developed following initial screening and leading to detailed well design. Frontier played an active role in the development of UBD and CTD in NAM including site supervision and training. Wells were in Coevorden and Emmen with the latter having H2S content. Both fields were in environmentally sensitive areas and it was necessary to meet the high HS&E standards of both Shell and the Dutch authorities. Coevorden is a fractured carbonate gas reservoir. The first of two trial coil tubing drilled underbalanced wells were drilled to evaluate the benefits of underbalanced drilling in eliminating drilling problems. These wells utilised water and nitrogen as the drilling fluid. Frontier also undertook additional feasibility studies and candidate selection for other NAM jointed pipe and coil tubing UBD projects offshore and onshore. |
BP Sharjah – Amoco Sharjah Oil Company |
UBD Project: Frontier were contracted to BP Sharjah for technical specification and tender evaluation services for this project involving the drilling of 20 CT UBD sidetracks from existing onshore gas wells in the United Arab Emirates. |
BP/Conoco |
Southern North Sea Feasibility: Frontier worked with BP / Conoco and subsequently ConocoPhillips on candidate selection, risk analysis and UBD feasibility for projects in the Southern North Sea. |
British Gas |
Southern North Sea Feasibility: Frontier worked with British Gas on a Feasibility Study to confirm technical and commercial feasibility of drilling underbalanced sidetracks from existing gas wells in the Southern North Sea. The project included evaluation of the potential reservoir benefit from underbalanced drilling. It also involved multi-phase flow modelling, drilling and completion fluids, UBD procedures, HSE issues, Cost/Benefit Analysis and Cost/Risk Analysis. |
ConocoPhillips |
Offshore Norway: Operations supervision & engineering services for a low head drilling operation, on HP/HT gas wells offshore, to Conoco/Phillips Offshore Norway. |
